What happens during the 10-15 minute phone consultation?

You and a member of the consultation team will briefly discuss the issues and/or concerns you are looking to work on in therapy. The team member will also explore your preferences and desires as a therapist. Based on your responses, an in-person or online private pay therapist in Brooklyn, NY will be suggested and matched to you. Does Insurance Cover Counseling?

Our Advance Clinical Residents accept Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield

We are out-of-network providers with most other insurances companies

Many out-of-network insurance plans will pay all or a percentage of the session fee. This typically occurs after your deductible has been met. We will gladly provide the paperwork needed to increase the chances of reimbursement from your insurance provider through a superbill. This paperwork is provided at the end of every month.

What does Out-of-Network mean?

This means you’re responsible for paying for your sessions at the time of your appointment. Depending on your plan, a certain percentage or the full session amount will be reimbursed to you by your insurance provider. This reimbursement amount is determined by the specifications of your insurance plan. Insurance generally provides reimbursement after your plan deductible has been met.

SG Wellness will provide paperwork needed to increase your chance of receiving reimbursement.

How do I know if my insurance has out-of-network benefits?

We encourage everyone to contact their  insurance providers to confirm out of network benefits.

How long does therapy last?

The length is not one size fits all. It is an organic process that can be on a short term/long term scale. At the start of therapy we will meet on a weekly basis. As we work towards positive changes, we will discuss the possibility of moving to a less frequent schedule or ending our sessions.

How to prep for a first therapy session?
  • Wear comfortable clothing.
  • Have water near by and something to write on
  • Make sure you internet is working properly
  • Arrive on time
  • Understand nerves are expected and your therapist is ready to help ease some of those nerves
